Here are some things to consider in the early stages after your treatment

Warning Signs of Infection Due to Injectable Filler
Although the chance of infection is very low for filler injected by a trained specialist, any medical procedure comes with inherent risks. These are the warning signs of filler treatment complications and requires medical attention.

587-200-5305The following instructions were designed to provide you with the most comfort and best healing environment. Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure adequate healing and decrease the chance for complications.
Instructions:
- Keep the incision clean and dry for 5 days. If you shower, do not get the incision wet and avoid baths, sauna, or hot tub use
- You may be advised to apply Polysporin to your incision twice a day for 5 days. Polysporin can be purchased at your local drug store.
- Unless otherwise directed by Sharma Skin & Hair Surgery, on day 6, you may remove the bandage and shower as usual. Ensure to completely dry the incision after your shower. You may let it air dry for a few mins before applying a bandage if needed
- Change the bandage at least once a day. Assess the incision for any signs of infection such as bleeding, swelling, drainage/pus, odour or if you experience pain that is not relieved by over the counter analgesic or have a fever, call our office immediately
- Avoid strenuous activity including lifting or stretching of the limb for 7-10 days
- You may have dissolvable or non dissolvable sutures and will be asked to return to the clinic in 7-10 days for a follow-up check and/or removal of sutures. Please ensure you have booked an appointment before you leave
- If antibiotics are prescribed to you, ensure to take them until finished
- Avoid strenuous activities, alcohol, and touching the treatment area for 24 hours
- No sun bathing or extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment
- Gentle washing is allowed few hours after post treatment
- Make up can be worn after 12-24 hours
- Ice packs can be used for swelling by applying gently for 10-15 minutes on the area
- You may apply or take oral Arnica for bruising, swelling, and relief of tenderness
- Take Tylenol for pain. Avoid taking Aspirin/Advil for 2 weeks to avoid further bruising
- Expect swelling and tenderness for 48-72 hours. Possible bruising may last about 7 days
- You may apply cold/ice packs to treated areas for the first 24 hours to minimize swelling
- Arnica gel may be used to massage the areas to help reduce bruising and swelling
- Normal activities may be resumed immediately following treatment
- Makeup may be applied a few hours after treatment
- Avoid sun exposure until swelling has resolved
- Massage treated areas 5 times a day for 5 minutes for 5 days to distribute solution and help prevent nodule formation (unless instructed otherwise by our team). This may be uncomfortable for the first couple days, but is necessary. The easiest time to massage is when the face is moistened with cleanser or moisturizer
- Schedule your appointment in 2-3 months to determine if additional treatments are needed. Most patients require a minimum of two treatments
- Results may begin to appear 4-6 weeks after treatment and will gradually improve up to 12 months. Results last up to 2-3 years after initial treatment
- A possible side effect can be the delayed appearance of tiny nodules under the skin, which can appear 6-12 months after treatment. They are palpable, but not visible and development can be minimized by following the post treatment massage instructions
